Our commitment
LedgerWebStudio wants this site to be usable by everyone who wants to read it, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard only, voice control, a screen magnifier, or a browser with its text size turned well up. Accessibility here is a build standard rather than an overlay widget added at the end, because an overlay cannot fix a page whose headings are in the wrong order.
The standard we build to
We build with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA in mind. We do not publish a conformance claim for this site, because a conformance claim is the result of a formal audit rather than a statement of intent, and we would rather tell you what we actually do than assert a level we have not had independently tested.
What is built in
- One
h1per page and headings in real, unskipped order, so a screen reader can navigate by structure. - A skip-to-content link as the first focusable element on every page.
- Every control reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus ring that is never removed.
- The navigation drawer is a native dialog element, so focus trapping, focus return and the Escape key are the browser's job rather than ours to reimplement badly.
- Every form field has a real, associated label, and errors are announced rather than shown only in color.
- Text contrast is checked in both the light and the dark color scheme, and color is never the only thing carrying meaning.
- Images have descriptive alternative text, and decorative graphics, including the animated background field, are hidden from assistive technology entirely.
- Every animation on the site stops under
prefers-reduced-motion, and nothing that moves is required in order to read the page. - Pages are readable and usable at 200 percent zoom and at 320 pixels wide, with no horizontal scrolling.
- Interactive targets are at least 44 pixels on touch.
- The page works without JavaScript: the review block collapses to a readable stack, the blog search hides rather than rendering dead, and every link is a real link.
Known limitations
Some pages embed a booking calendar, a contact form or a chat widget supplied by a third party. We control where those embeds sit and whether they load at all before consent, but we do not control the markup inside them. If an embed is the thing blocking you, tell us and we will give you another way to do the same job, including doing it by email with a person.
Sites we build for clients
Every website we build for a bookkeeping firm is built to the same standard described above, and ships with its own accessibility statement. That helps a firm meet the accessibility expectations a US business website is judged against. It is not a compliance certificate and nothing here is legal advice. Reporting a barrier
If something on this site stopped you, email hello@ledgerwebstudio.com and say what you were trying to do, what happened, and what you were using. A person reads it. We aim to reply within one working day and to tell you either what we have fixed or when we will fix it. If we cannot fix something quickly, we will give you another route to the same outcome in the meantime.
